Community & Government Initiatives

The American Conference on DiversitySM partners with the New Jersey Human Relations Council, and County and local Human relations Commissions and other grassroots organizations throughout New Jersey to provide training and consultation as these organizations evolve to meet changing needs in their communities. Through the collaboration and support of its eight chapters across the state, community programs such as the Bergen County Youth Community Builders Awards funded by UniLever, the Hudson County Poster Art Contest, the Atlantic County Martin Luther King, Jr. Brotherhood-Sisterhood Breakfast and inter-faith dialogues, and the Essex County School Swap, we are helping to build inclusive communities and working to eliminate prejudice, bias and discrimination. Statewide programs such as the Business Leaders Roundtable, dealing with Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities in the workplace, provided through funding from Pfizer, and the Business Leaders’ Series: Your Health Disparities Scorecard, with funding from Harrah’s Entertainment; and the Annual Diversity Issues in Higher Education Conference, offer the opportunity for dialogue and conversations on many key topical issues in New Jersey.

Collaborating with Human Relations and Other Organizations to Build Better Communities

“Through my involvement with the New Jersey Human Relations Council, we have collaborated with the American Conference on Diversity to create programs, workshops and conferences designed to improve the quality of life in New Jersey’s communities by encouraging civility and promoting respect for oneself and others. I look forward to working with the American Conference on Diversity in the years ahead, and I am sure our relationship will continue to be as collaborative and beneficial to New Jersey’s residents as it always has been.”
